I can only see what they mean, Another man on a podium, Too caught up in words and dreams, When it’s right in front of me. These mornings really pull at the seams, Trapped in a cage where I’ve always been, Yearning with a heat to express, My heart is locked in my chest. As we leap, It takes its toll, Fall, Where we have to go, On the brink, Our heart, Beats fast, At last. There’s nothing left to do but scream, The man tried his best to teach me, I’m not seventeen, The wool can’t censor me. Depending, How long you stare, At this wall, Litmus test, For if your heart pumps, Undue stress, Can’t seem to shake, Feeling you were always oppressed, The system obsessed, With eyes shut, Yes sir, Sunday best. Muzzled like a beast is how they’d like to keep, Citizens, subjugants, all the best in spite this fence, Born as machine, Dreams seem to pull at the seams. Racing fast, The hardest part is never looking back, Inside my lungs it’s black, No amount of sunlight, Can cure the existential attack, On freeways, Underwater, In thin air, Standing on top of trees, The same subconscious disease Strangeness doesn’t crest, Trying just to do my best. Burst at the seams.

The Basin 08:04
In the basin, Where tender thoughts coalesce, I’m not mistaken, Life pours down and trickles out, Trapped in stillness, My heart on ice, Holding just enough, Saving all the best. Giving in to gestation, Where something different grows, Turning back around, Laying foundation, Honing something sharp, To cut away the weakest parts, Even after dark, Chasing perfect rose.
